Organized in 1978, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is a private, not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization. Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee's mission is to feed hungry people and work to solve hunger issues in our community. Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is one of the largest and most comprehensive of over 200 food banks and food distribution centers nationwide and also a member of Feeding America - The Nation's Food Bank Network. Second Harvest distributes food and other products to approximately 400 nonprofit partner agencies in 46 counties in Middle and West Tennessee. Second Harvest partners include food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, childcare facilities, senior centers, group homes, and youth enrichment programs.
Bring 5 cans for Second Harvest to packet pick-up or on race day and we will give you a special gift and a raffle ticket for cool prizes! Most needed items for the Second Harvest Emergency Food Box Program are canned chicken/tuna, peanut butter, canned vegetables/fruits, soups and stews, pasta and cereal. General stat: 1 in 6 Tennesseans struggles with Hunger — even worse 1 in 4 children. 50% of the 2012 Du Run Run net proceeds will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
